Dave Chappelle Returns

     Remember the superstar comedian that was once on top of the world with the hit series "Chappelle’s Show? The same one that disappeared to Africa after being offered a $50 Million contract by Comedy Central! Well now he is making a kind of comeback — According to New York Times, Comedian Dave Chappelle will be making his return to comedy. After an 8 year hiatus, Mr. Chappelle headlines the Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival, a new 15-city tour presented by the Funny or Die Website that begins Friday in Austin, Tex. —Good Luck on your comeback Dave.

If Whitney Houston were alive today (August 9), she would be a young 50 years old.  Although it's hard for us to believe that such a talented person has left us, we still celebrate her accomplishments and the legacy that she embedded in our hearts.  Today is yours baby girl!  Here's a playlist of songs to get you jamming throughout the day.  What's your favorite Whitney Houston song of all time?

Nas Puts Out Family Fire (HotNewHipHop)

Two weeks ago, a Washington, D.C. family lost their apartment above a grocery store after a serious fire. Stanley Young, an unemployed construction worker and single father, has been living in a Holiday Inn with his seven children ever since. Although he's been working with the Red Cross, the District of Columbia Office of the Tenant Advocate and his church, he's running low on funds, and is required to leave the hotel by August 13th.

Enter Nas, who caught a news report on the situation earlier this week and took action. Using a CrowdTilt page, he's called for a show of financial support for the Young family. His initial target was $20,000, but the current total is $26,675 with 10 days left in the campaign. He was the first contributor. 

"Stanley Young is an unemployed construction worker and single father. Two weeks ago, a fire destroyed his home. His family is stuck in a hotel, but time is running out. I could barely watch his tragic story on the news," reads Nas' CrowdTilt message. "Help me give his family a miracle." 

The mother of Young's children passed away a year ago.

The Veteran - Artist Spotlight (Richmond, VA)

David Perry better known as The Veteran aka Prada Boy, is an underground rapper born in Brooklyn, New York. Started rapping at a young age and progressed rapidly. To make a name in Richmond, VA he started battle rapping people twice his age and was victorious.

Later on, he realized that battle rappers didn't receive record deals, so started putting out mixtapes. The first project, "I Am Rap" gained attention at colleges and lead to more shows. The second, "King of Kings" caught attention from New York rapper, Loaded Lux, which only lead to phone calls and broken promises. The final, "Heir to the Throne" is incomplete but still managed to catch the ear of New York rapper Smoothe tha Hustla, which also lead to broken promises.

Now still stuck in the underground, he hopes that the shows he do will catch the attention of a serious record label.

DMX acting funny with Chris Rock? (MTV)

DMX is returning to the big screen with funny man Chris Rock. Photos from the set of a new, yet-to-be-titled movie feature DMX, who will be playing himself in a cameo, and Chris Rock in what appears to be a jailhouse scene. X has been in a variety of films including "Belly" with Nas, "Romeo Must Die" with Aaliyah and "Cradle 2 the Grave" with Jet Li.

X's publicity rep shared, "The scene is comedic, which allowed X to show off his versatility as an actor. X and Rock played well off each other and Rock's character even gets DMX to lead the inmates in a song." The rep added that X is considering more acting roles and will be attending the Sundance Film Festival next year. Per IMDB, X is working on a crime movie called "Blame It on the Hustle" as well.

Recently, the rapper filed for bankruptcy after being arrested for DUI. According to X's rep, mismanagement from his prior team was a key contributor to his financial problems. “DMX’s financial strains have been inhibiting his career for several years. Poor financial management by prior representation have caused him to be ineligible to retain a passport," they said in a statement.

"The purpose of this bankruptcy filing is for reorganization so he can perform for his fans oversees." The Wall Street Journal reported that the rapper owes $1.24 million in child support and more than $21,000 on an auto lease, among other charges.

Beyonce Takes Weave Out

Beyonce sure made a statement today as pictures were released of her new hairdo.  It was a little surprising to fans because many people aren't use to seeing Queen B without her long weave locks.  Her hair was probably so damaged under there that it may be critical for the goodness of her own hair.  But going natural is in, right?  She sported the short pixie-like style on her Instagram and Tumblr.  In addition to these recent changes, she also sports a new vampire grill.

Will this be a new trend with everyone cutting off their hair or taking their extensions out to achieve that superstar Beyonce look?  It won't work for everyone.  Hopefully, they have the face and voice to match.  Otherwise, it'll be a lot of hot mess pixies flying around.
